Piper Heidsieck Vintage 2008 is a Pinot Noir driven example from a great year, blended from 18 Premier and Grands Crus. Pinot Noir coming from the reknowned Montagne de Reims giving structure poise and balance. The Chardonnay in the blend consisting of Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims regions delivering elegance, personality and youthful, fresh appeal.
Aged 8 years in the cellar and with a moderate dosage of only 9.5g/l, it presents with a glamorous bead, a golden shimmer and on the palate has generous complexity, Delicate aromas, pretty florals and exotic fruits, testiment to the warm season of 2008, Refreshing acidity and balance is clearly derived via the Chardonnay component which sings across palate providing lifted elegance and a sensational refreshing finish.
It is a complex champagne, however it is best left to those who sample its character 1st hand and enjoy it independently to pass judgement. We feel the blend is worthy of some delicate and flavorsome food matches and is a perfect accompaniment.
Noted via Piper Heidseick online food pairing suggestions: "Perfect wine pairing with crab, crayfish, grilled calamari, chicken and apple salad, vegetarian cuisine, along with tarte et pomme, grilled peaches and gelato"
