Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon.
Louis Roederer is renowned for its use its structured and powerful Pinot Noir, 70% of which is used in the blend its premium vintage cuvee. It provides defined structural backbone for the chardonnay (albeit with some oak treatment) to balance out the edges and provide a harmonious vintage blend.
"The palate is characteristic of Louis Roederer?s vintages: the attack is ample and dense; a rich and winey fullness is refined by the sweetness, acidity and tight blend of the Pinot noir grapes of Verzenay. The ensemble is perfectly integrated into a subtle texture. Tasting reveals sparkling suggestions of candied fruits, almond paste, toast, white chocolate, and carame l." - http://www.louis-roederer.com
