The dedication in the vineyard has seen Louis Roederer become the largest landholder of organic and bio-dynamic vineyards within Champagne today, this carries through to Cristal 2009 which comprises 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, A powerhouse with incredible depth and concentration...balanced articulately with a spine of cleansing acidity within, simply put it is is the upper most example of elegance in champagne and in the prestige Cuvee market. It is bright and vibrant with finely layered flavours and length. Poached pears, citrus zest with Cristal's known balance of chalky minerality. It will shine for the coming decade with ease.
Some stats from Roederer Directly : 60 % Pinot noir, 40% Chardonnay, 16% of the wine vinified in oak casks, no malolactic fermentation. Cristal is a blend of Grands Crus from the Montagne de Reims, the Vallée de la Marne and the Côte des Blancs. The wine is aged for 6 years in the cellars and left for a minimum of 8 months after disgorging to attain the perfect maturity. The dosage is 8 g/l."
